UKAS Policy on Accreditation and Conformity Assessment During the Coronavirus Outbreak

Please see the following message received from UKAS.

A new UKAS Publication has gone on the UKAS website today for a 7-day public consultation: Technical Policy Statement (TPS) 73: UKAS Policy on Accreditation and Conformity Assessment During the Coronavirus Outbreak.

This TPS has been produced to combine the guidance that we have previously published over the last month, including UKAS Technical Bulletins and News Articles, as well as clarifying our position on certain policies that have been modified due to the expected extent of the current coronavirus pandemic. In addition it takes on board the guidance provided by the European cooperation for Accreditation (EA), International Accreditation Forum (IAF) and the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) and is in line with the measures that the majority of other accreditation bodies have put in place. We believe that we are implementing a pragmatic approach which will support conformity assessment bodies and UK industry whilst maintaining confidence in the technical validity of UKAS accredited services.

Although we normally put draft UKAS documents out for 30-day public comment, on this occasion we feel that 7 days should be sufficient given the need to finalise this document without further delay; we trust that this will not cause any difficulties for those wanting to comment.

The draft publication can be downloaded from the UKAS Website: UKAS : Publications for Consultation

If any UKAS Accredited BMTA Members wish to comment on the draft public consultation document mentioned above, please do so before 8 April 2020, by way of completing this feedback form and emailing it to QualityReviewDocuments@ukas.com
