Background Information…

Make UK has been asked by Lord Deighton’s office to respond to the government’s urgent request for high volume providers of PPE.

Make are told that each company and product will need to be evaluated separately as there are a number of steps that need to be taken to ensure PPE is safe, legal, and protects the wearer in the correct way. We have been asked to help by organising the offers, and your support would be appreciated.

The government is looking for the following types of PPE: Aprons, FFP2 / FFP3 Face Masks, IIR Masks, Gowns, Hand Sanitiser, and Visors. There is no limit to the quantity the government will contract for and manufacturers are asked to base their offers on legitimate capacity.

Government guidance for New High-Volume Manufacturers of PPE provides details safety requirements and standards as well as the obligations on manufacturers; we would encourage you to read through this before making an offer.

Where appropriate, would you please share this with your members and revert back with the type(s) and quantity of PPE these organisations are able to create, using the table below to provide the information.

Once collated the offers have been collated, we understand that specific project teams will be assigned to follow up, in order to speed up the process.
