This one day event will take a Process Approach to the implementation of ISO/IEC 17025 within your business.
We will provide you with the opportunity to discuss your specific concerns with UKAS and the chance to network with experts from a variety of industries.
Expert presentations and informal discussion with decision makers focusing on key areas such as Measurement Uncertainty, Internal and External Quality Control and Validation and Verification. There will be other opportunities to cover areas such as the Role of PT and Reference Materials.

You will have the opportunity to take a tour of NPL’s state-of-the-art laboratories. NPL Huddersfield specialises in dimensional inspection and measurement of complex components and assemblies, CMM programming, and bespoke measurement training and consultancy. NPL offers a fast response service for difficult to measure components that require highly skilled techniques traceable to National Standards. Paul is a member of the Executive and leader of the Senior Management Team, with responsibility for input into design and delivery of UKAS' strategies, business plans and corporate decision making. Overall responsibility for ensuring that the four core operational sections within UKAS meet company objectives.



Trevor Thompson Circle Large

Trevor Thompson | Head of Operations Support, UKAS
Trevor is an experienced metrologist, technical manager, and an enthusiastic advocate of quality management in metrology. He served at the pinnacle of UK Metrology, NPL and then was a founding member of The NATLAS Executive (The UK's first national government inspired testing laboratory accreditation scheme). He then managed the physics and electrical laboratory accreditation at The United Kingdom Accreditation Service, UKAS for many years and represents UKAS Laboratory Accreditation in Europe's EA. He also concurrently served a short time rebuilding the Certification Body section in UKAS. He is now Head of Operations Support, this role being to support and ensure the compliance of UKAS Operations with all internal and external technical requirements. Presently UK member for BSI of ISO/CASCO WG44 revising ISO/IEC 17025, the competence criteria for testing and calibration laboratories. Also vice chair of European Accreditation's Laboratory Committee.

Brendan Robson | Engineer, TUV SUD NEL
Brendan Robson has been working in engineering measurement, data acquisition, analysis and modelling for over 25 year. His experience spans a range of engineering disciplines to consultancy level, including: flow calibration & testing, thermal, structural, dynamic and data management systems. Brendan is involved in the development of calibration methods, uncertainty analysis, research, auditing, quality & standards.  He has led NEL’s Traceability team (ISO 17025) for over 10 years.

Simon Wood | Product Manager, Autoscribe Informatics

Simon Wood PhD, has 30 years’ experience of testing and QA compliance in highly regulated industries. An acknowledged expert in the field of scientific and laboratory informatics in the commercial Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) environment he has experience implementing a wide variety of software driven solutions. As Product Manager at Autoscribe Informatics, Simon uses his considerable experience of international markets to drive development of Matrix Gemini LIMS.
