Laboratory Testing Services
VLA provides a comprehensive veterinary laboratory service to the UK Government and the livestock industry, offering diagnostic tests for a wide range of diseases in animals. The Radiochemistry Unit provides accredited analysis of environmental samples for a wide range of alpha, beta and gamma emitting radionuclides.

The laboratory facilities are UKAS accredited to BS EN ISO 17025:2005 (Lab Nos. 0941 and 1769).

The AHVLA’s Quality Assurance Unit is a Proficiency Testing provider offering 90 PT schemes for veterinary laboratories, covering aspects of microbiology, serology, virology, TSE, haematology, clinical chemistry, parasitology, histopathology and feed tests. Our schemes are used by over 800 participants in over 70 countries worldwide.

VETQAS is a PT provider accredited to ISO/IEC 17043:2010 – Conformity Assessment – General requirements for Proficiency Testing (UKAS lab number 0004) and certificated to ISO 9001.
