NMO offers Product Certification, Calibration, Quality Management Systems (QMS) Certification and Training services.

Product Certification services are designed to enable manufacturers to gain access to European and Global markets for weighing and other regulated measuring instruments. Our services include EC type examination under the Non-Automatic Weighing Instruments (NAWI) Directive (90/384/EEC) and the Measuring Instruments Directive (MID) (2004/22/EC), issuing OIML Certificates of Conformity and UK National Approvals under section 12 of the Weights & Measures Act 1985.

Mass, length and volume calibrations are offered by the NWML Calibration services. UKAS accreditation, to the highest globally recognised levels, is in place for these services. As well as this we also offer a measurement consultancy service and supply of standards in all related areas.

NWML also provides QMS Certification services in the following areas:
• ISO 9001
• EC Declaration of type conformity under the NAWI Directive (90/384/EEC)
• Declaration of conformity based on quality assurance under the MID (2004/22/EC)
• Self-verification under Section 11A of the Weights and Measures Act.

The National Measurement Office is an Executive Agency of the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills. NMO's core responsibility is to ensure UK measurement is accurate, fair and legal. This includes both the National Measurement System for scientific metrology and the policy lead on measuring instruments in use for trade under UK and European legislation.
